Our Programs
We promote STEM education through various activities and programs.
The science workshops focus on encourage excitement and curiosity in monthly science themes. The workshops include an introduction to science concepts, a lively discussion with students regarding the science topic and laboratory experiment to enhance the student’s interest in STEM careers. This group is a fun club meeting where students who love science or want to explore STEM careers can meet other likeminded students locally. This group participates in fields trips such as the sleepovers at the Perot Museum, excursions to the NASA Space Center and The Children’s Museum of Houston.
Science Workshops
Quiz team focuses on mental agility, competition and advance science studies for 2nd to 6th grade students. This team meets twice a month to practice answering quiz questions, prepare for regional and national competitions. This team will travel to events throughout March to May of each year.
Quiz Team
Computer Science Coding Team
The Coding Team focuses on developing computer science coding language skills through sponsored curricula. The students follow an 8-week program sponsored by Google to learn skills such as game development and robotic programing.
Robotics Team
The Robotics Team focuses on building robots and adding features to make their robot functional. The team will learn how to work as a team, how to utilize computer coding skills to program the robot and how to repair and improve the robot’s programing. This team will work on different at least 3 robotic teams throughout the year. The goal is to introduce the students to robotic competition.
Math Club
The Math Club is a summer program operated through MAPSS that focuses on advanced preparatory math skills to prepare the students for the STAR test.
This program identifies STEM students that would be possible candidates for a long-term surgical robotics training program at the Nicholson Clinic in Florida through the STAR program. The students will learn how to manipulate state of the art virtual surgical equipment and compete to increase his or her accuracy. Along with the other programs, these students will be preparing themselves for a career in medicine.
